What is an MVP, and where does our package end?

An MVP is the smallest real product that lets your first users do the one thing it is for. This page shows exactly what that means for us, so you know what the price covers and which functions are quoted separately.

What an MVP is

MVP stands for minimum viable product. It is the smallest working version of your product that real people can use to do the one thing your product exists for. You launch it, watch how people use it, and learn what is worth building next, before you spend a large budget on a full product.

An MVP is real, live software with real accounts, real data and, where needed, real payments. It is deliberately small. That is the point.

What an MVP is not

  • A design file or clickable mockup. It has to work.
  • A full platform with every feature you can imagine.
  • A finished product with a few features removed.

What drives the price: functions

What makes a project expensive is not how many screens or user types it has. It is the functions: how long each one takes to build, test and make reliable. A login is quick, because it is a proven building block. A matching algorithm or a live chat takes far longer and carries more risk.

So we sort every function of your idea into two groups: standard functions, which are covered by the package price, and complex functions, which are quoted separately.

Included from £5,990

Standard functions

Proven building blocks that we can build quickly and reliably.

  • Sign-up, login, password reset and user profiles
  • Simple user roles, for example customer and admin
  • Forms, lists and detail pages, with keyword search and filters
  • Dashboards with basic totals and charts
  • File upload and download
  • Email notifications and simple automatic emails
  • Payments or subscriptions through one payment provider, such as Stripe
  • Standard integrations with well-documented services
  • One feature that uses an existing AI service, for example summaries or classification
  • A basic admin area and basic analytics
  • A responsive web app and a landing page
Quoted separately

Complex functions

Functions that take a long time or are complex to build and test.

  • Real-time features: live chat, live collaboration, live tracking
  • Matching, ranking, recommendation or scoring algorithms, and custom calculation or pricing rules
  • Booking and scheduling engines with availability rules, resources or calendar sync
  • Marketplace payments with payouts, escrow or split payments, and complex billing such as usage-based pricing, tax or multi-currency
  • Multi-step approval workflows, and permission rules beyond simple roles
  • Document and report generation with custom layouts, and advanced reporting
  • Advanced search, maps and routing
  • Heavy file or data processing: video, audio, image analysis, OCR, large imports and exports
  • AI beyond one feature: training or fine-tuning models, large document search, agents, multi-step pipelines
  • Integrations with ERP, CRM or legacy systems, or with poorly documented services
  • Data migration from existing systems
  • Native iOS and Android apps, offline mode, or device hardware features
  • Several languages, white-label or multi-tenant setups, single sign-on, or regulated data that needs compliance work
  • Custom brand identity and illustration

How we decide

  1. On the intro call, we go through your functions together and sort each one into standard or complex.
  2. In the specification, we write down every function of the first version. Standard functions are covered by the package price. Each complex function gets its own written price.
  3. Before you sign, you see the total: from £5,990, plus any complex functions. You can also leave a complex function for a later phase.
  4. After you sign, the price for that scope is fixed. Anything new is a written change request with its own price.

Bigger idea? Start with phase one

Many good products start bigger than they need to be. We can build the standard MVP first, so you have something real in front of users within weeks, and quote the complex functions once you know what users actually want.
